I have always wanted to go there ever since, but we never get to come home here during that month when we were still living overseas. We planned to go there when B came back 3 weeks ago. Then the passing of my Father-in-Law happened. I then thought that going to the Ekka will be shelved till who knows when. B said that Pop would not mind if we go because Pop loves going to the Show and he would love for the Little One to experience the fun. So we went there the day before the last day (14Aug/Friday).
Kaiden was euphoric the moment we entered the gate! We came through the Side Show Alley gate so the Boy got to see the colorful rides and games.
We walked around feasting on dagwood dog and the famous strawberry ice cream! Kaiden don't want to go on any rides, but loved to play on those shooting and ball games. He liked winning prizes no matter how small they were. We almost went from booth after booth, playing the same thing! It was his day so B and I just let him.
And B talked the Little One to ride the Ferris Wheel with us. It was fun!

We then went on to look at the other attractions.
The animal farm and cattle show
The fruit and veggies pavilion
There were a number of shows being held at the main arena, mostly horse competition during the day. There were also fashion events.
The Husband was surprised at how the Ekka had changed. He said it was not as nice, as exciting and big as before. There used to be a massive showcase of different cars from different car companies and a wide selection of new gadgets and appliances. Nothing like that now. Even the Show Bags pavilion that used to be so crowded, now seems like a ghost town with only a few people looking.
Anyways, we went to the children's area where our Little Big Boy had these:

We got a good seat at the main arena and watched the programs they had from horse show, Ute show, go cart racing, wood chopping and motocross exhibitions. We stayed on for the fireworks.
The 3 of us all had fun, especially the Little One! He got a lot of toys and a number of show bags! It was a nice family day out, though the Husband said that we won't be coming back next year. Oh well, at least Kaiden and I got to know what being in Ekka was like!
Gorgeously . . .

It was a wonderful getaway for the whole family....Kaiden surely enjoyed it alot!!
It's really great time you've spent with your family. I think the kid have fun riding some of the ride and games. By means of that you strengthen your relationship with your family.
Been awhile, missed quite a few, but no excuse now, not to read them through...
Looks like everybody's having fun! Kaiden especially, ^_^. Good for you all..
