My Valentine Date And Surprise

The Little One was my date last Sunday. Though he said he doesn't feel that it is Valentine's Day because they did not do any art thing at school, unlike last year in Prep. I think he just got the confirmation when the priest briefly mentioned V Day during the Mass.

We got to talk to The Husband when we came back from the church. I was teasing him that I will be waiting for a surprise that day. (I have mentioned before that B's Mum died on Valentine's Day; and his Dad asked the 5 boys not to celebrate V Day, in remembrance of their Mum.) But I wasn't counting on it as I know he's got a lot of things going on and he said that we'll just make up the missed occasions when we're together again.

So Kaiden and I just spent the day eating out from breakfast, lunch and dinner. We had the last meal of the day at a Thai restaurant near our place and the owner said it was sweet having my Son as my date! Most diners were couples or family, at least we're different!

Mid-afternoon, B called if something had arrived. I said none. I asked what it was, he said nothing. I got a bit suspicious because he had been calling almost every half an hour to check if "it" arrived. Then he got no choice but to reveal "it" to me. He said he ordered 'something' for me and the Little Boy to be delivered that Sunday. I was surprised! I told him I understand that we need not to celebrate that day, though he had been doing things every year for me. Then he said: "Do you really think I would let Valentine's Day go without doing something for you, especially now that we're apart?" I was speechless! B do love me! LOL!!!

We came home from dinner, tucked Kaiden to bed and still no delivery. The Husband is getting frustrated. Nobody answers the company phone, so he sent them an email. He said that it will probably be delivered the following day which is totally pointless. I told him that it's alright. The fact that he made an effort to do something for us for that day is enough, late or nothing at all.

Then as I was watching TV, a van pulled up in the driveway. 'IT' had arrived . . . finally, at 15 minutes to 2200H! The lady was very apologetic for the very late delivery.

This was what I got:

The Little One got a plane with toy soldiers. Wasn't able to get pics because I put it next to him in the bed that night and forgot about it as I was takings snaps of the flowers.

I tried calling B several times to let him know that his Valentine surprise were here but his phone was off. Was probably too upset that his plan had a minor (or major?) setback. He was so disappointed on his numerous calls that day.

Valentine's Day is not really that big of a deal for us. I feel like we were over that stage because . . . we're old! Hahaha! Kidding aside, everyday feels like the Day of Love for us, together or apart. Better stop at that, I'm getting cheesy!

The Husband's Going Away Surprise

We became a fan of Hustle when we lived in Latvia. The cable company we got airs British shows and that was where we got to watch HUSTLE. It is a TV series about a very witty and street-smart con artists who always get away with their great deception. Their tricks were really good!

The viewing stopped when we moved back here in Australia. Then B searched online where we can get the DVD of the said series. ABC shops sells it. But getting the DVDs always slips our minds whenever we pass by any ABC shop. So that was that.

Then I got a package with an ABC sticker on it . . .

Please look closely at my loving Husband's message . . .
It says: "Honey, you enjoy watching these. Love, Asawa Mo"

It indeed was a great surprise! He said he had been waiting for these for a long time because ABC doesn't have the Season 4 yet, so it took quite some time for them to send it. I already started watching it and I love it!

Season 5 started early this year and Season 6 will be shown probably by next year. Can't wait to finish it all and grab the next season's DVD! It's just that some characters were replaced. I personally think that the original is always the best. But I love the show and will keep on watching it!

Thanks HON! How I wish we can watch these together!

I Am A Single Parent

. . . for a few months; not just a couple of weeks, but months! Yes, my hardworking Husband is off again to another continent! As I stay behind to be with our Pre-Schooler.

Us being away this time will be a challenging one. The longest we have been apart was just several weeks when B goes away on business trips or when Kaiden and I head home to the Philippines, which the most is about 5 weeks. Now we won't be seeing each other for a number of months.

I'm gonna be sort of handling stuff here on my own, which I am not used to. Other than the usual homemaker duties, B does almost everything for me. I never worry about anything because he always make sure things get done. (I'm spoiled, right?!!!! LOL!) He will pay our bills online, a gardener will come to mow the yard and keep it clean and most things will be taken care off, thankfully!

It has been almost 2 weeks since the Husband's flight and the Little One and I seems to be managing pretty fine. B calls all the time so I don't really feel alone. And we have been out everyday during Kaiden's spring break. I was actually getting good on driving around here on my own. Yes, I have my trusted SatNav and I still go the wrong way, but I somehow find my way back and get to our destination in one piece! Kaiden and I always have a laugh when I do a different turn to what the lady in the SatNav is saying. One learns at one's mistakes! I might be feeling it hard now that our Boy is back to school. Hu!Hu!Hu!

So it is just Kaiden and me yet again . . .

Oh well, wish us luck!

The Ugly Truth

My convincing ability still works so good for the Husband to come with me and see this movie! I know it has been shown for weeks already but with things happening left and right at our end, we're only managing to do personal stuff just recently.

We do not have anything scheduled yesterday so we watched a movie. B asked if it's another chick flick which I only answered with a smile. True enough, as soon as the movie started, he was teasing me with my movie choices! But he is such a good husband, he stayed with me till the movie finished.

The movie which stars Katherine Heigl and Gerard Butler, is a romantic comedy about a girl's idea of love and a guy's realistic approach to things. Abby (Heigl) is an optimistic and controlling girl who still hopes to find her Mr. Right. She is a producer for a TV show that isn't doing good in the ratings. While Mike (Butler) is a gawky and loud sexist who is more confrontational about the "truths" in life. As the network's management decided to hire Mike on the show, the 2 got know each other as the latter gave Abby tips on how to get her ideal man. As predicted the 2 eventually fell for one another.

It's just a so-so movie for me. We had some good laugh along. It had quite a number of coarse language but were totally called for.

Then the Husband said that he will be choosing the movie next time. We'll see.

Our Anniversary Celebration

It was a nippy but gorgeous day last Sunday. Just as it should be because it was our anniversary!

We went downtown and spent the day there. B planned to have lunch at one of the hotels but when he checked, the restaurant was non-existent; despite the fact that it was still advertised over the internet. We then walked along Queen Street to find somewhere else to eat. There are a number of restaurants and coffee shops along, but it is out in the open and it's cold.

Then we saw Jo-Jo's. It is a restaurant owned by a renowned hairdresser here in Queensland.

The place is nice and very open; they have courteous staff too. The resto have 3 sets of Menus: Oriental, Mediterranean and Grill. The fuss is you have to go to each Menu Bar that you like, order and pay there. So if you will be choosing something from those 3, you have to order and pay for them separately. And of course, same thing with the drinks. So you will end up with receipts everywhere while going back and forth.

But I guess all the trouble is worth it. The food was so delicious! We loved everything that we've ordered! Just heaven!

Salad

Spring Roll

Stir Fry Egg Noodles with Prawns

Chips

Eye Fillet

Wagyu Rib Fillet

The Husband strictly told me not to get him anything for our anniversary. He said having us (Kaiden and I) are more than enough to celebrate our 6th year of wedded bliss! Awww! So I just gave him a card and poured out everything that I feel!

B is so generous giving me such lovely, lovely presents! A trip to the Philippines and another purse! He had given me 3 bags now just in this month alone! Lucky me!

It is a great pleasure to have those frills; but having my Better Half fly out the following day feels the exact opposite! But at least we get to celebrate our occasion together this time, unlike our 5th!

Lunch Date At An Irish Pub

We have been passing by at this Irish Pub for quite some time and planned to try it out one day. The Mum of one of Kaiden's classmate said that the pub serves good food and they have Lunch Specials dirt cheap.

B and I went there yesterday. It is a typical pub with games that people gamble with. I wasn't able to take pics around because the gambling area was already crowded with some patrons.

Though I was able to take snaps at the restaurant area.

These 2 were painted on the ceiling.

Both B and I ordered the T-Bone Steak with chips and salad. We did not ask for their Lunch Special because we were craving for a good steak.

The Proposal

I dragged the Husband to watch a movie with me today. He wanted to see Year One but I wanted The Proposal. It's obvious who won!

He warned me that he'll walk out if he didn't like the movie. That was our running joke since I forced him to watch He's Just Not That Into You! Well, he stayed all throughout! He somehow liked the movie. 6 out of 10 was his verdict.

Like any other American movie, the plot is predictable. I liked it though. Nice chick flick!

Aborted Travel Plans Due To Swine Flu

It will be our 6th Wedding Anniversary on the 28th and we have planned to go away somewhere to celebrate. We thought of going to Hobart in Tasmania, since we haven't been there. But it looks like it's far from happening because of the A/H1N1 outbreak. There have been more than 1,300 confirmed cases here in Australia, a great number of it is from the State of Victoria.

The Husband don't want to take a chance of getting on a plane and be afflicted by the flu. Even if we are state-bound, some parts of Queensland have reported cases of the said pandemic.

Sad. I have been looking forward to going somewhere because we were apart last year. But it is better to be safe now than be sorry and sick later on. What's important is we are together and we can just do the trip some other time.

Anyways, have a great weekend everybody!

Movie Date In Torrential Rain

I am a no-show at your blogs because I have been occupied these past days. B and I were organizing things, hence making us on the go most of the time.

Anyways, the rain has been pouring down hard here since yesterday. But The Husband and I still went to see a movie today amidst the downpour. It was just a drizzle when we went out, or so we thought.

We watched Angels and Demons.

If you have seen the Da Vinci Code, you will know the adventure you'll be in. The movie is pretty good like the last one. I love how the Director, Ron Howard made it a fast-paced thriller and did not go into long sequences. It is a heart-pounding movie as the characters try to race against time. B enjoyed it, though he said some parts are quite impossible.

The movie will make you question some things. B and I had a discussion about the creation and evolution of man. He knows that I, as a Catholic believes that God created the world in 7 days; but he said that Science have proven facts about the things written in the Bible. Well, religion and politics will always end up in unfathomable talks. So let's just leave it at that.

When we got out of the movie house, the rain was just belting down! As we head home, cars were starting to line up everywhere. Most creeks we've passed by were overflowing. Police Officers were turning away cars from impassable roads and bridges. We went driving around just to get through. B went the back way and we're able to get home.

I got to Kaiden's school early to find out that they have sent the students home as early as Lunch Time because of the bad weather. Most roads were blocked and flooded. So due to the extremity of the weather condition, the school will be closed tomorrow.

I think everyone here in South East Queensland did not expect this rain to be so severe today! B said that it is like a Manila rain. Queenslanders were used on getting rain mostly late in the afternoon. They get the occasional all day rain but not as bad like this! The big one they had late last year was quite damaging as well. What B and I have seen on the roads this afternoon were nothing compared to what was being reported on the news. The Queensland Premier had just declared South East Queensland a Disaster Zone. This has been the heaviest rain since the 1974 flood inundated the region. Creeks and brooks now seems like a raging river. We'll probably know more about the damage in the morning.

If only these Aussies can see the unrelenting state of some places in the Philippines when typhoon season comes. Even a simple shower causes some areas to be soaked.

Anyhow, it will be our Little Prince's 5th Birthday tomorrow. Everything that we have planned will have to be put off. He was so excited counting the days till he turns 5, and was looking forward for his party. We told him about the turn of events and his reply was: "It's ok. We can have a party just the 3 of us!"

My heart melted! I thought he would be so disappointed and make a big fuss out of it, but he clearly understood and was happy to celebrate his special day in a very simple way. My little boy is indeed growing up!

Friday Night Movie Date With My Man

Thank you to those who appreciate my new look! Indeed Carlota was so patient with me! Thanks again, dear!

I wasn't able to visit blogs yesterday because I was busy updating the links which I clumsily lost; and we went out.

Hubby and I went on a date! We haven't done that in a long time. We usually go out as a family. So it was kinda different that it's just us.

We had dinner first at 4 Rooms.

> > > Hubby had a Lady's Steak with steamed vegetables.

> > > I had Baked Trout with cheese and shrimps in a bed of mashed potatoes.

The dinner was good, but they took ages for everything! We have dined there before and the service was not that slow. It took them about half an hour just to serve us a basket of bread. Hubby asked for another bread serving, and that's another 30 minutes. We were really hungry when our dinner was served. Getting the bill was twice as long too! I actually prefer that resto than the other steak house we usually go to, because they have a wider selection in the menu. But having experienced such a very dull service like that, I don't think we'll be back there again.

We walked from the Old Town to the movie house. We watched WANTED.

The movie's main stars are Angelina Jolie, James McAvoy and Morgan Freeman. It is an action-packed movie; full of stunts and very good slow motion effects. I like the sudden twist in the story; corresponds the beginning to the end. The movie was good and you'll love it if you're an action buff. It was just vehemently violent! And I thought the movie The Departed was violent enough, this one transcends it! Hubby was kinda dazed at how violent it was. He said the movie was good in a strange way.

I liked it because Angelina Jolie played her part so well! I loved her fierce look!

It was a nice date, if I may say. It was good spending time together, alone. Though I kinda missed my Kaiden! But I enjoyed it, and I know Hubby did as well!

Physically Apart But Connected By Heart

This is the very first time that Hubby and I will be celebrating our wedding anniversary apart! Both of us are in the opposite sides of the world! Hubby did tried to be here today but he just can't. There are still problems with the resort's papers in Boracay, so he is stuck there. Hopefully he can fly out early tomorrow morning to Manila to be able to catch the KLM flight that will bring him back here by midnight tomorrow night.

This Boracay trip of his hasn't been good at all. He's been having issues with the big boss. Which made him think about staying or leaving. All I know I could do is to support him, on whatever his decision may be.

The start of this year haven't been that exciting for us. In fact it is somewhat challenging, with everything that happened, especially with my husband's professional life. This year was also the first time that Hubby celebrated his birthday alone and away from from us. He was in Vienna for a business trip.

And now he is also on a distant shore for our 5th Wedding Anniversary! He called up last night since it was past midnight in the Philippines so it's technically the 28th; and greeted me "Happy Anniversary!" He also called this morning while I was still in bed. Then I got a sms stating: "Happy Anniversary! Mahal na mahal na mahal kita!"

Even before Hubby was asked to fix things in their Boracay resort, we have planned to put off our anniversary celebration a month later. We just did not anticipate that we won't be together today. It would be nice to wake up lying beside one another, cuddle up and just be in each other's arms this special day of ours.

Oh well, we may be apart today, but we know in our hearts we are always together!

I am just thankful that we're together for 7 years now; and having a wonderful married life for 5 glorious years! It has been a very marvelous journey through life and love.

28 May

It's the 28th of the month once again . . . our day! We used to celebrate the 28th day of every month in the past years. It was good that both our anniversaries are on the 28th, we don't need to have 2 celebrations! Our main dates are just 2 months apart, April and June.

I sometimes miss how Hubby and I spend time together when we were not married yet. We always make sure to be with one another. I miss our romantic dates; how he used to pick me up from work or he would just send his driver over if he's still busy, and I'll just meet up with him in the mall or wherever we're headed. We even used to have lunch together near my office, sometimes with my close workmates. He got along well with my friends, which is great! They love him! I miss how he surprises me with a bouquet of flowers for no reason at all, or whenever I am stressed out at work. How he would wait for me till my last ticketing for the day is done or whenever I have to do overtime. How he cheers me up when problems at work makes me feel so down. I miss how he sends me food when my job eats out even my lunch time. How he calls to check if I got to work alright and how my day was going. How proud he was when he introduced me to all of his staff, that some even calls me Ma'am! I was so nervous then because I know how much his people cares for him! It's funny how they would acknowledge me when I enter the building. Our endless texting and talks on the phone, even though we've just been together. How he waits for me as I go inside our house before taking off. How my family and relatives came to like him (but not at first!). I also miss our walks along Rockwell, coincide with our infinite talks. We love to eat, watch movies, do a lot of shopping and just hang out. There were a lot more things that we love doing together. I miss those kilig moments of ours!

I am not saying that we no longer have kilig moments, it's just nice to reminisce how we used to be before. It's kinda different now because we have Kaiden, the best thing that ever happened to both of us! That doesn't mean that it is hard being on that stage again. It's just we've got priorities now to consider.

Don't you sometimes think how you and your Hubby / Wifey used to be, when you were still going out? I kinda miss those, really! A feeling like having no care in the world! So blinded by LOVE! LOL!!!

But it is better now because we can be together 24/7. No need to wait to get off work to see each other. No parents to worry about when I get home late. No job or work-related issues that hinder our time together. No more jealous gust. And at the end of each day I know he'll come home only to me!

28th Day Of April

This is a very special day for Hubby and me. It is our anniversary! I think it was the day that we celebrate the most, than our wedding anniversary! Kidding! It was the 28th day of April 2001 when we became "exclusive". I mean, that was the day when we both realized that things are getting serious between us and it's not just mere friendship anymore. I think being good friends first, started a great foundation for our relationship later on. We got married 28 of June 2003. We've been together for 2 years and 2 months before we decided to take the plunge. But April 28 was what seems to be more special. I don't know why. Maybe because it was . . . "the first day of the rest of our lives!"

We've been together for 7 years now and married for almost 5 years! And I'm loving every moment of it!

We may be apart today, but we'll surely celebrate this soon!

I sent a sms this morning to greet him and he replied: "Love you more everyday!" What an enticing phrase to start up my day!

I don't wanna be too mushy here! So I'll just end this with a greeting . . .

"Happy Anniversary HON!!!"

Our Post-Valentine Dinner

I wasn't able to post this last night because I got so tired after the dinner.

Anyways, after our lazy afternoon yesterday, we showered and got dressed for dinner. The restaurant is just walking distance from where we live. But it was a freezing walk! Like what I've mentioned yesterday, it's a restaurant by the Daugava River. Latvia has extreme winter weather, so obviously they can't set-up outside. But the resto is really nice during summer. They've got a dock by the river where you can dine in. It's fun 'coz you sway with the waves! The restaurant is named Fabrikas Restorans.

We sat at the end corner. Hubby wasn't feeling quite well since he got back from Boracay last Tuesday, so he's not in the mood for photos. And he said it's embarassing! I didn't put the flash on though. So here are the pics of me and Kaiden:

Their serving of bread . . .

Kaiden had a mushroom risotto . . .

While I had porkchop with cheese . . .

Hubby had a soup and a roasted lamb. He thinks it's silly to take a photo of it, so I didn't.

It was a good meal. A good post-Valentine dinner.

We went to the mall today. Wasn't able to resist buying something! Hay!
