Day Out After The Big Pack

The house is sooo bare! You can hear everything wherever you are. The little boy loves hearing his echo and enjoys playing in the big wide open space downstairs.

There's nothing for us to do here so we went out, hitting 2 shopping malls to kill time. Kaiden is not used without his car seat, which we have sent away; so he just sat at the back with his seat belt on. He said he's already a big boy so he can go without a car seat.

We went to Domina since we haven't been there for months. Had coffee then left.

Oh, and we saw another classmate of Kaiden there. We always see a classmate of his whenever we go out. Makes him miss his school so bad!

The next was Spice. Walked around.

Let Kaiden play.

Had dinner.

Do some last minute shopping.

(Hubby's new clothes were already in the laundry, while Kaiden's toys are constantly with him; so no photos.)

Then back to the big empty house.

That's what my internet connection is! Everything you do here takes a freaking looong time! I can't blog hop properly because it takes ages just to load a page! Grrr!

I can make post but it's so irritating to go from one site to another. So I'm sorry if I can't visit your blogs as often like I used to. I promise to make up for it soon!

Was It An Exhausting Packing Day?

YES! Because we have exhausted all our efforts to do something! We did not to anything at all! I just showed the movers (5 men and a lady) all the stuff that are going. Their country manager even stopped by.

Hubby went to work and just came home after lunch. Kaiden and I played in the yard, watched the guys pack and just laid in bed.

The movers did everything. 3 of them speaks English so that was handy. We gave them pizza to snack on. They have breaks every couple of hours and back to packing. 2 of them left early (including the old lady).

They have just finished packing and were about to load the boxes in the truck when it suddenly rained! They loaded the boxes bit by bit from each room. I wasn't able to take pics per room because boxes were everywhere and I just stayed in the kitchen as they finished the last box. We have about 90 boxes in all.

2 of the company's big bosses came for the paper works.

Then off they go. They said the container will leave Latvia on Monday.

Now all we have is an empty house; well except for the bed and tv in our bedroom. We put the laptop on the breakfast nook which is running sooo slow. Wherein I have to take turns with the little one. He has been on the net, since almost all his toys are either packed or thrown away.

The room temperature went down because there was nothing inside. Hubby turned all the heater on to keep us warm.

This is our first night . . . I wonder how long we'll last!

The Big Packing Day!

It's today!

This will be a very busy and exhausting day for all of us, especially for me! After today, there will be nothing left at this house except for a bed, a tv and the built-in breakfast nook. I'm wondering now how the little one can last till the day we leave!

Anyways, I have to get going now.

TGIF On A Wednesday

It was sunny again yesterday so we went out.

Kaiden and I stayed at the park while waiting for Hubby. I had a good look around that amazing park which I have enjoyed visiting for more than a year. It will be one of my last visits before we leave.

We had dinner at TGIF.

Walked around as usual then went home.

I have a ton of things to do for the packing day but I just don't know where to start! I have folded most of the clothes and some other stuff; but I haven't emptied the cupboards at both levels of the house. I can't bring myself to do it! The husband said I should set aside the things to be taken away because the movers are Russians who may not speak English at all. Perhaps I'm thinking that they will be like those very friendly and helpful Pinoys who did our move from Dubai.

It's hard being here alone and doing almost everything.

I guess I better get my lazy bum out of here and do some work!

Summer Is Officially Over

Yep, gone are the days of daylight till about midnight. No more summer clothes. In comes the jackets and cardigans. The chilly weather is slowly enshrouding the city, like a thief in the night. The gloomy climate is staying longer and longer. A sign that autumn is coming, which means that the freezing winter is just around the corner! I sure am glad we're leaving here soon and won't be experiencing that freaking arctic cold!

It's just sad that summer is gone. I love Latvia during summer because everything seems to bloom to perfection! They have such a great summer weather!

Oh, I will surely miss Latvia!

Mamma Mia! With My Little One

Thank goodness the sun showed up yesterday; Kaiden and I were able to go out. I have been waiting for Mamma Mia! to be shown and was so glad that it's for all ages, so the little boy can come with me. We got to the movie house a bit late because there was a line up with the drinks and popcorn counter.

I so loved the movie! Kaiden enjoyed it because its a musical; he just loves music! Though of course he got bored right towards the end of the movie. I enjoyed myself watching it! I have always liked Meryll Streep (Can't forget her in The Devil Wears Prada!) and Colin Firth (The charming gentleman from Bridget Jones' Diary); of course Pierce Brosnan too! Amanda Seyfried is quite a revelation. Remember her from the Mean Girls? I love how they put the movie together with the songs, just exemplary! I loved the ending too! I honestly got LSS till today! Abba songs have always been pleasant to my ears. I will surely get a dvd copy of that.

Kaiden and I had lunch after the movie and just walked around the Old Town. Got something that Arlene wanted but forgot the address! And was able to get the pics for Ate Lena.

I finally got another set of mementos. This time it were really Latvian pieces. I just need to get fridge magnets next time.

True Love Tag

I got tagged by Scotty's Princess and Cecile. Thanks dear ladies!

* What does true love mean to you?
--> True love for me means being ONE.

* How do you know you’re really in love?
--> When everything around you seems more colorful and lively; you get inspired with everything you do; you sometimes smile without apparent reason at all and you strive to be the best that you can be!

* How many times in your life have you fallen in love?
--> Thinking about it now . . . I think I have only truly fallen in love once!

* Have you ever fallen out of true love because you were mad at the moment?
--> No. Disagreements are interestingly part of being in love! It surely adds spice to the relationship.

* Do you feel love and physical attraction are the same thing?
--> No. Physical attraction is more of being fascinated. While being in love goes deep down beyond that. But I personally believe it goes together, just not the same thing. I don't think you can be in love without being attracted to the person.

* If your true love became ill or disfigured would you continue to love them the same way?
--> Absolutely! It's part of the vow I have made in front of God and the people close to us.

* Should anyone else be able to tell you who to love or not love?
--> No one. I am my own self and nobody controls me.

* Do you believe people that ended up divorced were ever truly in love?
--> At some point, yes. I don't think they will get married in the first place and stay together for a number of years, if they did not love one another. Unless it was just a marriage for convenience!

* Would you do anything for love?
--> I definitely will, as long as it's not against my morals and beliefs.

* If you truly love someone, do you feel it should be unconditional?
--> Without a doubt!

Reunited . . .

(This photo was taken months ago, while the 2 are playing around.)

Yes, my young man has reunited with his favorite playmate . . . CLARA!

They were so happy and very excited to see one another! You can clearly see how much they have missed each other! Clara and her family went back to Spain during the summer, that's why Kaiden had missed her so much!

He went and play at Clara's house for the rest of the afternoon; together with their other classmate, Petris. Their Mummies said that only 3 of them in last school year's class were in the same class this year and Kaiden was supposed to be with them, if ever we'll be staying.

Kaiden missed his school so much! So maybe we'll drop by at the school tomorrow after class, and let him play with his former classmates. I know for sure they will be glad to see Kaiden!

It's just sad that we'll be leaving soon!

It's The 2nd Day Of School...But Not For My Boy

All of Kaiden's classmates/friends went back to school yesterday. Of course the little one felt kinda left out being at home. He wanted to go to school as well and be with his friends. Since our humble home is just steps away from the school, he can hear the children playing in the playground. You can also see the school from our windows, which will make Kaiden all the more excited to go there.

Hubby and I talked about enrolling him till we leave, but it's just a waste of money only for a few days. The school fees increased this year, which makes it more than Ls500 / US$1,000 a month; plus other miscellaneous fees like their lunch, etc. International schools are really pricey. I'd rather have that for an extra shopping money! Hahaha!

Kidding aside, I know it will be hard for Kaiden seeing kids go to school everyday. We told him that he'll be going to school in Australia by next year. We have already submitted his application at a private school just outside the community where we live. Hoping he'll be accepted and not put on the waiting list. Apparently, there's a long list of students wanting to go to that school. So we'll see.

But right now, my worry is my stay-at-home kid! Made me think of taking him out today, just for something to do. And I need to get stuff done in the Old Town for 2 lovely bloggers.

See yah later guys!

Happy Birthday, SHEILA!

It's my youngest sister's 21st Birthday today!

This has been a good year for her; passing the board and all! I am so proud of Sheila, being a certified RN now! Teehee!

Just hoping she could get a job soon. She said she's so bored not doing anything at all. For sure Makati Med will make their students a priority in hiring nurses, which is said to take on this December.

Anyways, I wish we could be home to celebrate this milestone of hers with the whole family. Who knows, we might be home soon . . . !

Happy, happy birthday my equally gorgeous Sis! LOL! Luv yah!

Heading Out Before The Rain Starts . . .

It has been gloomy here for the past week, not to mention the rain. We got out and went to the mall. Roam around and did a bit of shopping. All they have are winter stuff since it's getting chilly nowadays. No point of buying anything because it's gonna be summer in Australia when we get home.

We dined in at Gan Bei and had these.

The battery was flashing really low while I was taking shots until it died down.

Got groceries after dinner and went home. Just minutes after of putting the groceries away, the huge gush of rain starts. We came home just in time. And today, it's raining still!

Preggy Facts:

1. Who did you first inform about your pregnancy and how?

2. Maximum weight?
>> I honestly forgot!

3. Cravings?
>> Filipino food! I was new in Australia and just trying to like their stuff. It was hard so I went home to the Philippines twice during the course of my pregnancy. And I have brought and sent boxes of goodies each trip! That's how much Hubby gave in to my constant (Filipino) food cravings!

4. Aversions?
>> I never liked smelling any of Hubby's perfumes, corned beef, the smell of tinola while it's being cooked; I can't remember the other ones . . .

5. Morning Sickness?
>> It wasn't a morning sickness; more of an every now and then one. Whenever I feel like throwing up, a glass of coke and some chocolates always made me feel better. I know it's not healthy, but those helped me all throughout.

The Rain Pours And The Packing Starts . . .

It has been pouring here lately and yesterday was no different. The chilly weather made me got up really late and just had brunch. The little one was having a good time annoying his sick Dada.

Hubby and I talked and have decided to send all our stuff early to Australia so it will be there by the time we arrive. I have filled the insurance form and went around the house for things we'll gonna keep and things we'll throw away. I've got lots of Kaiden's stuff that can still be worn or use but it's gonna cost more to send it to the Philippines than all of those things combined; I might as well just buy things for my nephews or godchildren.

I have also started piling up the clothes to be sent home. It wasn't really packing because the movers will be the one to do all of those. I am just segregating it so it's easy for them. Doing this reminds me of all the times we have moved, especially the last one from Dubai. It was easier for me that time because I've got a lot of help there.

We have to make sure everything is clean because the Australian government is very strict with everything coming in to the country. If they see any dirt anywhere from our stuff, they will have to fumigate it at our expense, of course.

Doing this means Kaiden and I might be out of here sooner than I thought. It's kinda sad because we won't be able to roam around Latvia with the rain hanging around.

The little one and I got up late this morning. We had breakfast together with Hubby (He had his, late with us though he was up really early). We are hoping the weather clears today so we can go out.

Anyways, here's wishing you all a blessed Sunday!

Season Of Sickness

A lot of people are getting sick lately. I have read quite a number of blogs about them or a member of their family being sick. Well, we've got 1 in our household. It's Hubby. He started feeling sick last Monday night. Even though he is knocked down with flu, the very good Boss still goes to work each day! Kaiden and I have been telling him to just stay home and have a complete rest; but he said he's got meetings and tele-conference lined up. He goes home early than usual, but being at work surely gives him stress; and that's not good when you're sick. 'Hay, tigas ulo!'

I guess it's just the weather. It has been raining here lately and getting quite chilly now. We're back to long sleeves shirts and cardigans. Gone are the great summer days!

No Surprises . . . No Internet Connection

Our perfectly working internet connection suddenly went kaput last Tuesday night. Hubby tried to fix it but nothing worked. We have to wait the following morning to call the company, inspite of them saying they have a 24 hours customer service. And just like any other service company here, they say there is nothing wrong with the connection from their end. Must be our computer then.

Hubby was on the phone with the internet/phone company for minutes trying to figure out what went wrong with our connection. Then Hubby thought that it might have something to do with our WiFi. He unplugged it, connected just the PC alone and it worked!

The computer started playing up after we changed the virus protector to a different one. We thought it might just be that. Hubby uninstalled the virus protector completely. So I am using this without any protection at all.

Boy, was it hard being offline! I'm just so glad to be connected again!

Anyway, here's a grateful shout out to everybody who left their very comforting messages over my big disappointment about that cancelled trip of ours.

It's good to know you care, even if I am in my immature and bitchy moods! I do appreciate every word and it meant a lot! Thank you so much!

Reading your comments over and over makes me feel like a little child whining about nothing! It makes me smile and laugh at myself.

There will be no surprises at all. My husband is very busy and so pre-occupied at the moment to come up with anything like that. Gone are our days of surprises! Hahaha! We must be getting old for that. Hay . . .

He is actually asking me what I want to do for my birthday. A great surprise would be good, but that's far from happening. And I don't think there will be enough time for it.

He wanted Kaiden and I to leave here early and spend my birthday with my family in the Philippines; since I don't often spend my special day with them. He said we could have a party there together with my friends. But I don't know. I'm still kinda depressed over that TRIP! I can't think clearly.

To make myself feel better, I just think that maybe we're not YET meant to go to that place. It has been cancelled twice, and maybe I should take that as a sign. But I also thought, what kind of untoward things might happen? People go there all the time, come winter, spring, summer or fall. So why can't we go? I honestly tend to blame my husband. Urgh! Thinking about it is just turning me into a total b*atch!

I try so hard to think of other happy thoughts and excite myself with going home, but it's just difficult to shift my sh!tty feelings to a pleasant one. I am like this if I don't get what I want. People around me suffers most of the time, especially my husband. And he blame my Dad for spoiling me too much. Whatevs!

I Am So So So Disappointed!!!

We have planned way, way back to spend 4 days at this special place somewhere here in Europe for the celebration of our 5th Wedding Anniversary. We were suppose to go last month but something came up; so it was rescheduled for this month. It was a great timing because the trip will be our post-anniversary celebration and my pre-birthday treat. We were scheduled to leave next week from the 28th-31st.

But due to time constraint and circumstances beyond our control, the said trip won't materialize at all. Grrr!!!

I was sooo looking forward for that trip! I got all excited and went agog awaiting for this very special travel! And then I learned that it won't happen. I can't explain this anguish I am feeling right now! It's like hope and happiness drifted away from me. It feels like that dream is just within your reach and you suddenly woke up! Urgh!

I wanna get this thing out of my system because I will surely be like a shrew; and I don't want to expose my little boy when I feel $h*t inside! I get really snappy!

Hubby said we'll do the trip when we get ample time. He better make sure of that or he'll get a constantly irritated wife! He suggested other destinations, but I am dead set on going to that particular place. That plan of really doing the trip better be a reality in the near future, or else . . .

P.S.
I don't think this will be a joyous birthday for me. Nothing special to look forward to. Sad. Sad. Sad.

Gorgeously DISAPPOINTED . . .

Day Out After Being Lazy

I was absent from your sites during the weekend because I was just plain lazy to blog hop. I got online but did not do much. Blame it on this monthly thing I've got right now.

Anyhoo, had a good day out yesterday. We first went into a mall I haven't been before. It's called Sky and More. It's a nice mall with mostly high-end shops. Surprisingly, nothing tickled my fancy! Hubby got a new pair of jeans and a thong (slippers). We had lunch at The Mongolian Restaurant.

>>> GO ON FOR SOME MORE . . . <<<

The food and the service was alright, but I don't think we'll be coming back there. Nothing special worth coming back for. We were the only customers that time. Mind you, that mall doesn't have much people in it. They should have chosen a better location for it.

We went back home to unpack the groceries then head out again.

There was some kind of celebration going on in the Old Town last weekend. There were programs that went on all night long for 2 nights, with very loud and long fireworks till past midnight. The worst noise wast last Saturday night because there were bands playing across the river that can be heard from where we are. Last night however were just fireworks. There was also a boat race. It was nice seeing the huge Daugava River be filled with yachts and boats! Wasn't able to take pics because I got excited seeing them! I guess it's Riga's last hurrah for summer since school will start by next week.

We sat at one of the bench in the open dome as the little one ran around. Hubby asked me if I'll gonna miss Riga. I replied yes. Then he mentioned something about work which I cannot impart here for personal reasons. We both love the summer here, simply the best! Words are not enough to describe how amazing Latvia is during summer! Everything comes alive! Though dining in the Old Town can be quite expensive. I guess because they only thrive during summer, where tourists flocks the place.

It was almost 1900H so we went to Steiku Haoss for dinner. Hubby had bolognaise, Kaiden had their Catch of the Day with veggies and I had matured steak and baked potato with mushroom.

It was a yummy meal with a very attentive attendant.

So that was our Sunday following my bone lazy Saturday!

And to nobody's surprise, I still feel lazy today! I had a long chat with my family back home because they were having a big party. Made me think of the savory dishes they have! My urge to taste Pinoy goodies builds up even more! Urgh!

After that chat, I honestly don't feel like doing anything! But I have to! I forced myself to get up. I have to clean the house, do some washing and change the sheets. I don't want to do a thing but I can't go on with my day knowing that there are things needed to be done. I have always been like that. Even if laziness gets in to me, there will be voices telling me about my unfinished task. At times like this, I wish we had some help around. Hay, the life of being an all around stay-at-home Mum!

Lazy Girl

The Lady in Red showed up yesterday, giving me headache and a feeling of sluggishness. I just don't feel like doing anything.

My morning started grumpy because Hubby woke me up. The house we're living in right now is for sale, and somebody will have a look by 1000H. I went down, had my breakfast and gave the little boy his, because he didn't like what his Dada gave him. After that, I did a bit of clean up though I always keep the house clean.

Hubby wanted to go out after Kaiden's afternoon nap. I feel so lazy to do anything so I lied in bed with Kaiden. I was able to sleep a bit but the little one woke up and played. I could not go back to sleep but just stayed in bed. Hubby asked if I still want to go out because I look so tired. I said no and just do it the following day.

The next thing I heard was the husband doing something in the kitchen. I gave up trying to sleep because Kaiden kept on jumping in the bed. I went down and found my good Hubby done cooking our dinner! He said that if he knew I won't be going back to sleep, we could have gone out. I told him I don't feel like going out.

The cook made a casserole of some sort. And it was good! Being a fussy eater, of course I just picked the ones that I liked. Kaiden asked if I didn't like it. I said I loved it! (I better not let the boy see me picking out food or he'll end up like me!) The 3 of us had a good meal with an ice cream for dessert.

So much for being a lazy mother and wife yesterday!

Our Not So Latvian Mementos

As our ineffable stay in this captivating Eastern European country might soon come to an end, we have been on a tiny quest to find Latvian souvenir pieces for us to take home; like what I have been mentioning at my previous entries. We made a vigorous effort to snoop at Riga's nooks and crannies to find something that will always remind us of our wonderful stay here in Latvia.

You can get those typical souvenir pieces like mugs, plates, linens, etc. But we want something that can be a conversational piece around the house.

We found two interesting shops but they were not Latvian. We decided to still get what caught our eyes since those were very attractive.

The first one was a glass piece made in Lithuania. It's shop here goes by the same name Stiklo Paslaptis .

They have all sorts of glass pieces from vases to candle holders. It has very unique designs in different colors. We wanted to get a bigger one but we are worried that it might get broken once it reached Australia. So we settled for this, which is quite cute.

* It cost Ls59 = US$134

Then on to that German shop. It is called:

They are the sole distributor here in Latvia of all products from Tom's Company. This German-owned company have such colorful and attractive pieces that you would want to take home with you! Here are some photos of the shop here in Riga:

Very eye-catching, aren't they? I could stay long in the shop and just adore every piece. Most products are quite high-priced, especially the one that is personally made by the owner himself (Thomas (Tom) Hoffmann). We liked a tea set but to get the whole lot will cost about 1,000Lats or 2k US bucks!

These were the ones we purchased:

*The giraffe cost: Ls219 = $494
*The shoe cost: Ls37 = $84
*The heart cost: Ls139 = $314

So for almost the price of 1 tea set, we get to have 3! I really liked it though, if only not for it's steep price.

If you are interested to check out more of the products, you can go to their website here.

I am pleased with the things we got to remind us of Latvia. Hopefully it will add beauty and a home-y feeling to our humble abode at the Land Down Under. I can't wait till we go home and re-arrange everything around the house!

Latvian Museum Hopping --> Part 6

History Museum Of Latvia (Latvijas Vestures Muzejs)

This museum shows the life of the early Latvians; their clothing, things around the house, kitchen stuff, how they make their livelihood; and interestingly, the furnitures of rich Latvian citizens.

They also have religious artifacts that dates back from the 16th-18th century.

This is quite a big museum which also have rooms for exhibitions. Entrance fee is Ls2, but free every Wednesday. There's a Ls1 charge for taking photos. If you'll be in Riga, this is a must-see museum because it is where the President's Palace is. You could not get in there, but it's as close as you can get to it. They also have changing of the guards, which is quite good to see; the same one like in their Freedom monument.

I guess I'll end my museum-hopping entries here. The rest of the museums are not that interesting. Hope you enjoyed it somehow.
