Latvian Museum Hopping --> Part 1

Latvia has museums everywhere! Just in Riga (mainly in the Old Town) alone, boasts about 19 of them!

We have physically been to about 9 museums, though have passed/stood by most of them. I just don't find some of those museums interesting enough for us to take time and visit it.

Ethnographic Open-Air Museum (Etnografiskais Brivdabas Muzejs)

This has been the first open-air museum that I have been to. Is is huge, with a 100 hectares of Latvian houses, farmsteads, windmills, wooden churches and things about Latvian that dates back from the 16th to the 19th century.

We had such an enjoyable time there and took tons of pictures that I accidentally lost! You might remember how I raved on about it in here!

Museum of War (Kara Muzejs)

This museum showcases the complex military/political history of Latvia, struggling for independence during the 1st and 2nd World Wars, plus their strife under the Soviet occupation that lasted from the 1940's till 1991; when the USSR collapses.

This 4 storey museum is also known as the Powder Tower. Entrance is free. It holds a lot of Latvia's rich history, especially during the communist times. This has been one of the best museums I have ever been to. The collection pieces that they have from weapons, photos, documents, awards and other stuff, are very well preserved and presented.

I Still Feel Sick . . .

. . . and I don't know why. I have been like this since Sunday, though not as bad.

I feel like I am not myself lately. I also easily forget small things. I don't feel sick all the time, it just comes every now and then. I try to carry on as normal, especially for Kaiden; but I know I don't feel well. Things seems to be hazy for me and I get really dizzy at times. At first I thought that I might not be getting proper nutrients that my body needs, but I am not/never was on a diet. I am actually eating a lot. Even if I don't have the appetite to eat, I try to; and even have small snacks in between.

Hubby is worried too. I really don't know why I am feeling this way. There's no use in seeing a doctor because language barrier might be a problem; and besides, I might get over this soon, hopefully.

As hard for me as it is, I try my best to do all the house chores; plus everything with Kaiden. Hubby said I don't need to get up in the morning for him, since he makes his breakfast all the time. But I just want to do my wifely duties and make a cup of tea for him before he's off to work.

I just hope I'll feel better soon and be back to my usual me . . .

Wedding Pictorials In The Park

I would love to get married (again) here in Riga. They have such a wide variety of places to choose from, where you can have your wedding pictorial. Parks are everywhere, not only in Riga but on the other regions of Latvia as well. You have seen how pretty Ventspils is, so you can visualize how amazing this country is, during the summer!

We often see newlyweds walk along the Old Town and at the parks. There are also some magnificent architectural sites all over the Old Town.

They have this small bridge near the Freedom Monument that holds quite a number of padlocks. The logic of it is very simple yet romantic . . . a couple will get a padlock together and have their names engraved on it, lock it at the bridge and throw away the key at the lake. So that locks both of them together as one. Cheesy! But cute, isn't it?

Hubby wanted to put a lock of our love there as well! Would be nice, leaving a part of us here in Latvia. Most newlyweds gets their photos taken along that bridge too!

So here are some of the newly married couples we spotted having their wedding pictorials in the park . . .

As I have mentioned on a previous post, Kaiden and I had a little participation during the pictorial of this particular couple:

They got a shot with the view of the huge fountain and saw us feeding the birds. The photographer asked us if we can feed the birds some more to attract the other birds to come. As birds started to flock and eat on the ground, the couple stomp their feet that scared the birds to fly away, then click! click! click! That will surely be a charming photo with brids flying around!

Another couple saw it and wanted to have the same birds effect, but we've got no more bickies to give!

Kaiden love seeing brides in their big wedding dresses! He calls them princess! They usually use limousines, so he always expects to see that long white car.

It was funny how he told me one time that he wants to see me in a princess dress that he can touch, and not on the photos. He said he wants to have a photo with me in a princess dress because the ones we have doesn't have him in it, which makes him sad everytime he remembers or see it!

That gets me thinking now . . . maybe Hubby and I can get married again! I can wear my big puffy wedding gown for the 2nd time. Granting that it still fits me, which I doubt! This makes me reminisce our fabulous and wonderful wedding!

Still A Bit Sick, But Shopping Comes First!

Thank you for those warm thoughts and wishes yesterday. How I wish the symptoms I have been feeling were those of being pregnant! Sadly, it isn't.

I am feeling a lot better each day, but not 100%. I still feel a bit fuzzy every now and then.

And yesterday, we went shopping, again! It always makes me feel so much better, so why stay home, right? Shopping has always been a proven and effective relief from whatever I am feeling. It gives me a natural high! LOL! Hubby's back hurts but still meet us up in the mall, for me. Kaiden and I got there early so we started shopping around. Went another round when Hubby came, had dinner, got some groceries and went home.

I wasn't able to take photos of our dinner because we were sitting right in the middle, and it's kinda embarrassing to get pics of the food.

Anyways, here are our loots yesterday . . .

From Zara:

> > > Kaiden tried these on and he just look so handsome!

> > > A nice summer dress and a good fitting jeans.

From different shops:

> > > I don't know why I am into skirts lately. They are just pretty!

I did not bother taking Hubby's loots because there were just lots of them! Even he, himself said that he might have bought too many! Good on him! That doesn't happen everyday!

I Was Sick Yesterday . . .

We had a long and tiring, but enjoyable day last Saturday. We went on a long drive to Lithuania; which I will blog about in the next days.

I slept late that night and got waken up by Kaiden's kisses and jumps on the bed, the following morning. I stayed laying down as he play and watched You Tube on my iPhone. As I got up, I suddenly felt so dizzy and had a pounding headache. I wanna get Kaiden his breakfast so I told him to come down with me. I usually do piggyback on him whenever we go down the stairs. I just could not yesterday morning because I felt so giddy. I told Hubby that I felt sick. I couldn't stand up much longer so I sat down on the couch and rested my head.

Hubby was the one who prepared Kaiden's breakfast and made me a cup of coffee and a ham and cheese sandwich. I had some sips and tried to eat but my head is spinning. I felt like vomiting but nothing came out. Hubby said I look so pale and frail. I laid down on the couch again and tried to rest. Rest which I was not able to, because my little one kept on giving me hugs and kisses, and trying to talk to me. His Dada already told him not to disturb me for I am sick. He reasoned out that he was just trying to take care of me.

I really am not myself so I decided to sleep in the bedroom. Hubby closed the door and told Kaiden once more not to go inside the room because I need to rest. And I did fell asleep. I felt a bit better when I got up. Hubby and Kaiden already had lunch. Kaiden was watching tv while Hubby was on the net. I tried to eat so there's something in my tummy.

I had a shower to freshen up and went online to take my mind off from being sick. I was fixing my template; trying to insert those expandable post codes. But had no luck with it which exasperated me and made my condition worst. So even though I still feel lightheaded conforming with headache, I told Hubby that I want to go out. I just wanna get some fresh air, hoping it will help. He made sure I am feeling well.

It was a nice day so we walked, soaking up the air; that indeed made me feel so much better! It was such a cool breeze. We had coffee/tea when we got to the Old Town and walked around. Hubby has been on a shopping mode lately and shopped some more today! He doesn't really like buying stuff for himself, so I'm happy when he does. It's more me who enjoys (more LOVE!) shopping not only for him but for Kaiden as well.

We went around trying to find somewhere to have dinner, but we ended up at TGIF (yet again!).

Hubby and I were thinking why I suddenly felt ill yesterday. And no, I am not pregnant. The LiR came last Saturday. He thought it was food poisoning from our dinner the other night, but I didn't have stomach pains nor the need to go to the loo. I still feel a bit dizzy but it's tolerable, not like yesterday. I just don't have the appetite to eat. It seems like I'm craving for something which I don't know what. Glad I'm doing alright now because Hubby is at work today and Kaiden is a handful. I wouldn't wanna be sick with just Kaiden and me in the house. That will just be very, very hard!

It's My Parents' Wedding Anniversary!

I called at home yesterday and had a long conversation with both my Mum and Dad (one using the extension). We talked about a lot of things, mostly the 'going ons' in our lives. It's their wedding anniversary today but they will have an all-in-one celebration probably next week. It will be my youngest brother's birthday on the 1st of August, their anniversary and a thanksgiving party for my youngest sister for passing the board. Dad said it will be a big celebration because they will be inviting everybody who they requested to pray for my dearest sis when she took the exams. Yes, my parents had this prayer brigade and texted everyone they know! They even held masses! It was all worth it!

How I wish I could be there to celebrate with them! I wouldn't wanna miss that! I know Hubby will let me go home and be with them; but I feel that I have a responsibility here to be with him. He already let me go home to the Philippines twice this year, and one more wouldn't be too much! Kidding! Things like this is one of the sacrifices of living abroad; you missed out on a lot of things and happenings!

I was missing "home" so bad while I am talking to my parents. Dad wanted us to go home if we can, but Mum said that I will surely just waste money (again, like I always do!) if we do go. She knows I spend a lot! But she loves me still! Thinking about "home" makes me wanna go!

Well anyhoo, today is my beloved parents' Wedding Anniversary! So I'm wishing them continuous love and affection for one another, good health and more more more wedding anniversaries together!

To my loving and wonderful parents!

This greeting also goes out to Dezz and Dako who are celebrating their (2nd) Wedding Anniversary today! Here's to more happy years together!

Got to get going now. We'll be on a day trip today.

Have a nice weekend everybody!

P.S.
Kaiden was in a grumpy mood while I was talking to Mum and Dad, shouting that he don't want to talk to them. After the long chat I had with my parents, I talked to my little one and made him realized what he had done. So I called back at home and made him apologize to both his Lala and GrandDad.
