Our First Medieval Resto Experience

It has been raining here this weekend; and we're just thankful that the sun showed up after lunch yesterday so we head out.

We passed by a park beside the Daugava River and took some snaps.







We went to a tea shop when we got into the town. Then off we went on our souvenir hunt. Unfortunately, most shops are closed on weekends. One would think that they will be open for business during Saturday and Sunday, since people tend to go out those days. But not here.

I cited before that we saw a glass shop that were made in Lithuania. We finally got one, even though it's not Latvian made because it is unique in a way. I didn't get a photo of it since it's already in a box. Anyways, we were still thinking of getting something from a German shop that we saw. They have very attractive and colorful pieces. But they too were closed. I told Hubby to just leave work early one day during the week and we'll go looking again.

I have been wanting to dine at this medieval restaurant for a long time! We went there before but did not make any reservations and the place was packed. I called before we left the house and made a 1930H reservation. It is named Rozengrals.







We got there half an hour early. This cellar restaurant tries to recall the medieval times; through dim lighting (meaning just candles), medieval background music and ambiance, plus their waitresses are dressed in medieval times.







They don't have much on the menu; mostly 4 choices per course. You won't even find a potato on the list; for they say that potatoes were only brought to Europe as late as 1536. They are realy into the game of medieval!









Everything was just alright. Hubby and I both agreed that we won't be coming back there again. It was a good experience though, being able to know and savor the kind of comestible they used to have during those times.

Our bill came in a gothic ilk too!



It was a good way to end the weekend. We were all tired from too much walking, but it was somehow amusing. Hubby was amazed at Kaiden's non-stop prate! He kept going on and on and on at just about anything and everything! Well, that's my child, with such a very inquisitive mind!
